Major Hassan Amir of MNDF have said that acts of terror are committed with political motives. Major Hassan made this statement while speaking at a panel discussion held at the religious scholar’s conference organized by Islamic University of Maldives.
Major Hassan said that even though terrorism is usually associated with religion and ethnicity, and other issues, the real motives are often political. He said that terrorism originated for political reasons and even today it is being done with political motives.
He said that, once the society gets politically fragmented acts of terror increases and the purpose is to achieve what they want through coercion. Major Hassan explained this in detail in the paper submitted by him. He also noted that it is a huge progress that MNDF personnel are able to participate in such acacademic discussions.
