Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has said that it was the responsibility of the Parliament to seek out a solution for the issues in the judicial justice system
Speaking in the ceremony to release the annual report of the Commission for last year, held this morning in Mookai Hotels, the Commission’s Vice President Shifaq Mufeed said that any international bodies had expressed concerns over the current situation of the judicial justice system of the nation.
“Many, both local and international partners, have expressed concerns over some of the rulings of the courts,” he said.
Shifaq added that HRCM does not have the legal mandate to challenge the rulings of the Courts, adding that any changes that need to be made to the judicial justice system has to be through changes to the law from the Parliament.
He stated that this was applicable not just to the judicial justice system but to all issues prevalent in the country.
