Maldivian Delegation Strengthens Tourism Partnerships During Shanghai Visit

A high-level Maldivian delegation has continued its tourism promotion mission in China with a series of strategic meetings in Shanghai aimed at strengthening partnerships and attracting more Chinese visitors to the Maldives.

The delegation is on an official visit to China and includes senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the national airline Maldivian, and leading tourism industry associations.

Leading the delegation are Minister of State for Tourism and Civil Aviation Haris Mohamed and MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree.

As part of the Shanghai programme, the delegation met with representatives of leading travel companies ABC Travel and Run Tour, as well as Megacap, Maldivian's General Sales Agent in China. The discussions focused on expanding tourism cooperation and identifying new opportunities to increase visitor arrivals from the Chinese market.

Talks also explored the development of travel packages tailored to the preferences of Chinese travellers, strengthening business-to-business partnerships, launching new destination marketing initiatives and enhancing air connectivity between the Maldives and China.

The meetings form part of the Government's ongoing efforts to reinforce the Maldives' presence in its largest tourism source market while building stronger relationships with key travel trade partners across China.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, China continues to lead tourist arrivals to the Maldives this year, with 174,201 Chinese visitors recorded so far.
