Principles need to be formulated, implemented for progress
All the developed nations in the world have one thing in common; they all had effectively implemented the principles they had compiled. This is the sole reason why Maldives had failed to progress.

This is evident in the centralization policy. Ibrahim Nasir was the first person who had said that development cannot be brought into isolated small populations. He began a policy of transferring the citizens to other islands, if they did not have a threshold population of 40 men.

The policy drew to a halt in the tenure of his successor Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom. During his tenure, he allowed those families who were transferred to move back to their original islands.
It was the case in the transfer of citizens of L. Kalhaidhoo to Maamendhoo. During the tenure of President Maumoon, he authorized that Kalhaidhoo was an inhabited island. Citizens of Kalhaidhoo are now in Gan. The losses both the families and state encountered in this issue are enormous.

President Yameen had also announced a centralization policy. Under the plan, the citizens of Gaadhoo had been shifted to Fonadhoo. The move was critical, allowing the students of Gaadhoo to go to the school in Fonadhoo.

One critical question remains; in the event the government changes parties, what will be resultant effect on the current policies in place. Will the citizens of Gaadhoo be able to get back to their island?
If development is to be secured, then major decisions of the nation cannot be changed with every change in the power.

At the inauguration of the China Maldives Friendship Bridge, President Yameen had revealed the centralization policy and urged the youth to accept the policy.
