“Respect” campaign will benefit whole nation: Shaheer
STO Managing Director Ahmed Shaheer has stated that the “Respect” campaign is one that has to be run on an extensive platform to benefit the entire society.

He made the statement in the ceremony held to take part in the “Respect” campaign launched by PSM. The campaign was launched by PSM, after President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom made the appeal for such a campaing.

Speaking in the ceremony, held yesterday morning, Shaheer said that prior to the launch, STO had pledged endorsement to the campaign.

“STO had accepted the appeal by the President to create a culture of respect in the community, issued on Human Rights day. We have been waiting to start such a campaign,” Shaheer said.
Shaheer said that every individual desired respect and therefore should espouse respect in the first place.

Shaheer added that STO had always paid importance in respect and politeness.

“We had previously carried out such campaigns, among them the Smile campaign, carried within the company. We aimed to create a culture that prioritized smiling in all aspects of the work life,” he said.

Shaheer pledged to carry out the respect campaign in all STO outlets and offices all across the nation, including all subsidiary companies of STO.

Shaheer said that a culture of respect will forge stronger bonds between the employees, creating team work, productivity, improved staff turnover, better customer care and a host of other benefits. He said such an initiative will improve the business and the entire company.

He listed the benefits of such a campaign to any business, urging all companies to take part in the campaign.

Speaking in the ceremony, PSM Managing Director Ibrahim Khaleel said that it was a big development for the campaign when a company such as STO pledged to take part.

He added that even though, some companies had pledged to take part in the campaign, STO was the first company to accept and implement the campaign. Khaleel said that this was a sign of the level of importance STO attached to campaigns of this nature.
