Six new launches commissioned to Police
Six new launches have been commissioned in the service of Maldives Police Service (MPS).

The launches were commissioned in a ceremony held in a ceremony held Thursday evening by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Areef and senior officials of the MPS.

Speaking in the ceremony, Head of Marine Police, Police Chief Station Inspector Adam Iyaz said that MVR 13 million had been spent of the project.

Iyaz also said that with the newly commissioned launches, Police will be able to provide better service to the public. Iyaz thanked President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom for his initiative, attention and the assistance. He also noted and thanked Home Minister Umar Naseer and Finance Minister Abdullah Jihad for their assistance and priority given to the Service.

Iyaz further said that Alia and MTCC were in charge of the upkeep of the launches, noting that both companies see this as a national duty. He also thanked the two companies.

It has been reported to Miadhu that from 2008 onward, Police had faced issues in providing their services, especially in the islands, due to the lack of launches.

Many Police officers have noted that this was a major success for the Service and should be marked.
