CCE has stated that the projects the company runs in the Maldives will be run focusing on the best gains for the Maldives.
Dai Kun Feng, Chairman of CCE Board, made the statement speaking in the ceremony held to sign agreement to generate 2.5 megawatts of electricity in five islands. He said that the first phase of the project was completed in 2012 quite successfully.
Feng said that the company would be seeking to employ Maldivians in the projects as much as possible and will engage in social responsibility projects as well.
Feng said that his company was the industry leader in solar energy in China, with the company running projects in Asia, Africa and other regions. He said that at the start of every project, there is a high infrastructure cost. However, he noted that the benefits gained from such projects were felt, resulting in the fact that now china spends the biggest amount on renewable energy globally. Feng also said that Chinese corporations were succeeding in this field as well.
Feng added that his company used world class technology and products in their projects. He noted that the company was willing to work with other government agencies and ADB to facilitate funds for the projects.
The project will greatly lessen the reliance on non-renewable sources of energy such as oil and will be completed in a six month period.
