Public Service Media (PSM) has officially partnered with the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) to bring the 21st Asia Media Summit (AMS) to the Maldives.
The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at PSM headquarters, confirming the Maldives as the host nation for the prestigious regional gathering. Under the agreement, PSM will oversee the organization and coordination of the summit, including a series of preparatory workshops leading up to the main event.
The MoU was signed by PSM Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb and AIBD Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General Philomena Gnanapragasam.
Scheduled for May 2026, the summit will mark the first time the Maldives hosts the Asia Media Summit. The country was formally announced as the next host during the closing and handover ceremony of the 20th AMS held in Cambodia.
Recognized as AIBD’s flagship annual forum, the Asia Media Summit convenes media executives, policymakers, regulators, broadcasters and digital industry leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region. The event provides a platform to explore emerging trends in broadcasting and digital media, while promoting regional dialogue, innovation and collaboration.
AIBD, founded in 1977 under the auspices of UNESCO and headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is a regional inter-governmental organisation dedicated to strengthening electronic and public service media. Through training, policy development and capacity-building programmes, the institute works to advance a dynamic and cooperative media landscape across its member countries.
