The State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has confirmed that electricity connections for the 4,000 housing units developed by the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) in Hulhumalé Phase II have been fully completed, with all required testing finalised. This marks a key milestone in ensuring essential services are ready for residents relocating to the area.
STELCO said all technical works, including cabling, main panel installations and connections, as well as power supply to individual apartments, have been successfully carried out. The work also involved comprehensive testing to ensure a reliable and uninterrupted power supply for incoming residents.
Water and sewerage connections to the apartments had already been completed earlier by the Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC). With electricity now in place, all basic utility services required for occupancy are available at the FDC housing complex.
FDC has begun handing over apartment keys to beneficiaries and is targeting completion of the handover process by the end of the month. While some residents have already started moving in, others are preparing to relocate ahead of the month of Ramadan.
At the same time, surrounding roadworks and infrastructure development are continuing under the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), along with the rollout of additional services to accommodate the growing residential community.
The 4,000 housing units were constructed under a government-led housing programme aimed at expanding access to affordable homes for the public.
