Gasim Ibrahim has said that an emergency situation can happen anytime and therefore is important to take heed and take measures to prepare for such a situation.
Gasim Ibrahim made this remark following the water crisis in Male’ yesterday which was the result of a fire at MWSC. He said that the nation should be ready for such unexpected emergency situations.
Gasim added that water and electricity are the basic needs of the people and it will be a total disaster to live without any of it especially in a place live Male’.
He said that the sanitation system also came to a stop in some houses because of the lack of a water well.
Gasim said that the water crisis happened in Male’ at a time Male’ is crowded with people from different islands who came to the capital for the annual holidays.
He said that such situations happen because of the lack of a second plan. Therefore, he said that lessons should be learnt and efforts should be made not to repeat such a situation ever again.
