Big development to the efforts to resolve water crisis is expected today afternoon- Nazim
Member of the special taskforce assembled by the President to tackle the water crisis, Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim has said that a big development to the efforts of the government to resolve the crisis is expected today afternoon.

He said that water supply was resumed Thursday night from 8 to 9 however because of overload some houses did not get water.

The Minister said that the supply will be again resumed today morning from 8 to 9. He requested all to close the taps prior to the time of the supply.

Minister Nazim said that a contingency plan has been made to resolve this crisis. He said that it is to repair all the equipment in MWSC. Minister said that a plan B has also been made. He said that it is to make efforts to get foreign assistance in resolving this crisis.

“Government will do everything possible to resolve this issue,” he said.

Nazim said that four bottle water was decided to be given to every person living in Male’. Tonight 2 litre water will be distributed to each person. Government distributed free water last night from 10:30 to 12:00.

Nazim said that all water generators are working fine however the panel board has been damaged by the fire. He said that an investigation is on going on the cause of the fire.

“MWSC did well. They have stored 1.5 litre size 4 bottles for each person. There is a reserve for a week,” he said.

Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Mohamed Shainee stated last night that some of the equipment necessary to resolve the water crisis have been ordered from Singapore and will be reaching Maldives today morning.
