Maamigili constituency MP, Gasim Ibrahim has said that education should be provided up to PhD level to develop a nation.
Gasim Ibrahim made this remark expressing concern regarding issues that he found worrying from the submitted state budget.
Gasim said that it is very worrying that PhD level scholarships are not included in the various scholarships provided by the government.
He said that the colleges, universities and higher education institutes in Maldives are on the rise and they need PhD level lecturers.
“Our children needs education from them. PhD holders should be there to inspect their researches and as their teachers. This is how it is even in other developed countries of the world,” he said.
Gasim Ibrahim said that it is questionable how the government wants to develop the country without producing PhD level scholars.
