Jumhooree Party leader and Maamigili constituency MP, Gasim Ibrahim has said that he will vote in favour of the budget for the sake of the people despite the problems within it.
Gasim Ibrahim made this remark speaking at the Peoples’ Majlis yesterday. He said that he believes that there is also much good in the budget that can benefit the people.
He said that he always wants what is best for the people and their development. He said that he will vote in favour of the budget for this reason.
Gasim Ibrahim noted that the country might be faced with many economic problems with the increase of taxes next year. He said that even now the problems have started.
He said that the bed tax which was stopped have been again commenced from November and GST has also been increased from 8 percent to 12 percent.
“With the increase of the taxes the prices have been increased. The tourists visiting Maldives will be reduced because of this. Already this can be seen now,” he said.
In addition to this, Gasim said that he is happy that the people will also see good next year from the budget.
