Maafannu Dhekunu constituency MP, Abdulla Rifau has said that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will not resign due to pressure from a group of people demonstrating in the streets.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Rifau said that the MDP is protesting on the streets and criticizing the government seeking authority. He said that MDP does not want an election.
He said that regardless of the pressure put by former President Mohamed Nasheed, President Yameen will not resign.
Rifau said that MDP is claiming that they will be returning to power soon to deceive their members to make them remain in the party.
He also noted that there is no reason for the President to resign and the government has not done anything against the law or constitution.
