Kashidhoo MP Faisal Naseem has said that the required results cannot be achieved if being a councilor is a part time job,
Faisal Naseem said that if the expenditure is a concern then it is wise to reduce the number of councilors considering the population.
Faisal said that if councilors are elected they should be made permanent and should be given salary accordingly.
He said that if this is changed and if councilors are not given a salary then results will not be achieved as expected. He said that the management of islands then will be a total failure.
Many have been stated that having 5 councilors in less populated islands is not good considering the expenditure of the state and the debt of the state.
It is noted that not much have been done to resolve this issue because of political competition between parties.
