Maldives Police Service has stated that more drugs are being seized with the strengthening of the police institution.
Answering a question raised by Miadhu Daily, Police Information Officer Ismail Ali said that the number of cases of police seizing drugs have increased and this is because the police have strengthened their works.
He said that this is not because of an increase in the smuggling of drugs into Maldives. He said that the Police have expanded and toughened their operations.
He said that the increase of brewing of alcohol is because the police have tightened the securities of all the gates of entry of drugs.
Maldives Police Service’s Drug Enforcement Department and Police Officers working in several atolls as well as Police Intelligence in collaboration with Male’ City Police Officers are continuously working to save the country from illicit narcotics and its trade.
The number of cases filed as well as the cases of confiscating illicit narcotics increasing shows the increased effort of Police in their fight against the drug trade as well as the progress that is being made.
Police are continuously working to protect the country from illicit narcotics, and as such Police are working together with families, NGOs, Island Councils, Atoll Councils, City Councils, general citizens and various associations in order to achieve that goal.
