Thoddoo constituency MP Ibrahim Hassan has said that the number of environmental problems faced by Maldives will increase with the expansion and increase of guest house businesses.
He said that the increase of guesthouses will increase the number of wastes and the number of problems related to the water and sanitation system.
Ibrahim Hassans said that resolving these environmental matters will cost a lot of money. He said that these problems should be resolved by the government and the island councils.
He said that with the increase of such problems it should be considered when issuing permits to open guesthouses.
“Waste problem is a big issue in Maldives. Especially in my constituency. Thoddoo and Rasdhoo are facing this major problem.
