Gasim expresses hopes to develop Airport to accommodate bigger airplanes
Founder and Chairman of Villa Group Gasim Ibrahim has expressed hopes to develop Maamigili International airport to accommodate bigger airplanes.

Gasim Ibrahim made this remark speaking at the ceremony held at Maamigili International Airport to receive the new passenger airplane of Villa Air’s Flyme on Wednesday, bringing the fleet’s total to 5.

Gasim said that the current runway will be expanded to 2600 as soon as the Ministry of Environment gives the approval.

He said that the change from a 46 passenger airplane to a 68 passenger airplane is to accommodate more passengers and provide more efficient and quality services to them.

“Another new airplane will be brought on January next year,” he said.

Gasim said that he hopes to bring the Flyme fleets total to 7 such airplanes. He said that then there will be 2 or 3 flights to all domestic airports every day.

“We are hoping to increase it to a fleet of 7 by January, 2015,” he said.
