President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the government will implement the death penalty on those who murder people.
President Yameen made this remark speaking at the ceremony held at Alimas Carinval to celebrate the anniversary of the PPM Coalition government.
President Yameen said that there will be no mercy to those who do not show mercy to the people. He said that the current government will implement the death penalty after all the processes are finished including the appeal and Islamic clinical counselling.
“With the aid of Allah, we will implement this. We are not doing this because we love to spill blood. We also do believe that every drop of blood that is spilled is life,” he said.
The President said that Maldives is not a place owned by a certain people. Security should be provided to every Muslim and Muslimah.
“The people should be able to breathe happily without violating our rights. He said that if this has not been ensured then the government will have to move up the ladder,” he said,
