Peoples’ Majlis has passed not to increase Tourism Goods and Services Tax (TGST) by 12 per cent.
Amendment submitted by Mahibadhoo constituency MP Ahmed Thoriq to annul the 12 percent taken as TGST was passed with the consensus of the 70 members of the Peoples’ Majlis.
A report on the amendments to the Tax laws were submitted to the Majlis today by the Speaker.
Meanwhile while in the past it had been 8% TGST, an increase of 4% was made commencing from the first of November 2014.
The law to include a 12% TGST was passed by the Parliament on the 4th of February this year.
