Minster of State Abdullahi Majeed has been appointed as a vice chair of Consultation Meeting for the Joint Forum on Clean Air in Asia and the Pacific and Fifth Governmental Meeting on Urban Air Quality in Asia.
The conference which begins yesterday in Colombo Sri Lanka is a flagship event of clean air Asia covering key sectors including transport, energy, industry and climate change. The 2 day conference will emphasize on government policies and measures taken towards achieving better air quality.
The meeting is attended by 150 participants from 25 countries including policy makers, practitioners and industry leaders to discuss, learn and share their experiences on this important area, and agreeing on possible measures to be taken to reduce the air pollution.
The meeting is jointly organized by United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and Clean Air Asia.
Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy of Sri Lanka, Hon. Susil Premajayantha was appointed as a chair of the meeting. The meeting be held from 17th to 18th of November.
