Dhiraagu Launches LTE 4G service in GA Villingilli
Maldives Largestt Tellecom Cpmpany, Dhiraagu announces for the first time in the Maldives, having launched 4G/LTE service in GA Villingili.

Dhiraagu network is now ACTIVE and LIVE for the first time in GA. Villingili with a special event held in the Island.

This is the First time in the Maldives a telecom is expanding the network beyond Male’

As the full-service telecommunications operator in the Maldives, we are proud to announce the successful completion of the major mobile network upgrade work that began in April 2014. With this major investment in enhancing Dhiraagu’s wide mobile network infrastructure, our customers can now experience superior 3G speeds and bandwidth on our optimized HSPA Plus network and experience ten times faster speeds on the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network today. Furthermore, Dhiraagu also has the nation’s first state of the art LTE Advanced Network that is active, live and ready for customers to experience the fastest data speeds in the country.

Dhiraagu customers having a LTE supported device and wishing to experience our superior 4G LTE Network can get their existing SIM cards changed to a LTE supported USIM, free of charge till 30 November 2014. The USIM kits will be issued and activated at Dhiraagu Customer Front Office. For the first time in Maldives, Dhiraagu introduces USIM cards with a special SIM adapter that can convert nano SIM card to micro SIM card to standard SIM card. Besides, it can also convert nano SIM card to micro SIM card. This will allow customers to use their nano SIM card and micro SIM card in all mobile phones.

The 4G/LTE frequency for our network is 1800 MHz (band 3) and hence customers must ensure if their LTE handset fall within this band.

At the official ceremony of the superior Dhiraagu LTE network, Director Marketing Ahmed Maumoon said, ‘A huge percentage of Maldivians depend on our fast and reliable Internet connections more and more every day, whether it’s instant access to various applications at work, to constantly update social media sites or to watch on demand live tv or to access real time data from surveillance devices. Dhiraagu provides 3G coverage to more than 85% of the population and will continue to expand the service including the provisioning of 4G LTE services.
