Jumhooree Party leader Gasim Ibrahim has said that reforming the judiciary and empowering the independent institutions will bring prosperity to the people of this generation and the future generations.
Speaking at the Peoples’ Majlis, Gasim Ibrahim said that he has always been speaking about reforming the judiciary. He said that many others speak of the issue as well.
“I’d like to say that this has been neglected for long. I believe that this is important to all the people including the next generation,” he said.
Gasim said that the judiciary can only be reformed by giving it the importance it should be given and using the means for it.
He said that this includes giving the judiciary staffs, judges and others the training they require. He said that the judiciary cannot be reformed without the cooperation of the government.
“The other side, is to empower and strengthen the independent institutions. If not we cannot establish check and balance or good discipline,” he said.
Gasim said that reform cannot be brought without strengthening the constitutional institutions. “I am speaking about those independent institutions outside the government. Those institutions should be strengthened,” he said.
He said that these institutions should be free from all undue influences and should be run in accordance to the constitution and law.
Gasim underscored the importance of giving them adequate budgets to implement these reforms.
