Curriculum is being revised so that it would center on Islamic principles- VP
Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that the educational curriculum of the country was being revised so that it would center on Islamic principles.

Vice President Dr Jameel made this remark speaking at the meeting held yesterday with Deputy Rector of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Berghout.

At the meeting held at the President’s Office this morning, the Vice President expressed his gratitude to the Malaysian Government, and the IIUM for their continuous support to the Maldives.

Noting the high priority Maldives has always given to educational advancement, the Vice President shared with the Deputy Rector of IIUM, the Government’s education policy.

In this regard, the Vice President said that the Government gives special attention to empower the country’s youth, and that facilitating educational and employment opportunities for the youth was one of the main goals of the Government.

Continuing on, the Vice President stated that the establishment of an Islamic University in the Maldives would be a great milestone in the implementation of the education policy, and discussed with Prof. Berghout on ways IIUM could extend their cooperation.

The Deputy Rector of IIUM assured the Vice President that the University would continue to provide all its support and assistance to the Maldives, especially in establishing an Islamic University in the Maldives.
