Vilufushi constituency MP, Riyaz Rasheed has said that “Reeko” Moosa Manik who recently resigned from the post of the Chairperson of the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) should not be the only one who should take the responsibility of the defeat faced by MDP in the recent elections.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily commenting on the changes brought to the leadership of MDP in the national council meeting of the party, Riyaz Rasheed said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed himself stated that the leadership of the MDP should take the responsibility of the defeat faced by MDP in the Presidential Election, Local Council Election and the Peoples’ Majlis Election.
Riyaz said that Moosa resigned out of shame knowing the fact that he will be removed from the post even by taking a vote of no confidence against him.
Riyaz said that Moosa is not the only one who is responsible but former President Nasheed himself also should take the responsibility of the defeat faced by MDP.
The Vilufushi MP said that Nasheed making decisions over the Chairperson and influencing the leadership of MDP while having no position or authority do so shows that there is no democracy within MDP.
Riyaz also strongly criticized MDP for appointing Nasheed as the interim President of MDP.
