President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is behind the biggest arson attack every in the Maldivian history.
President Yameen made this remark speaking at the ceremony held at the Carnival stage to celebrate the third anniversary of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
He said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed following his resignation is again seen drowning into his desperation.
President Yameen said that it is known in history that arson attacks were famous during the reign of Ibrahim Famudheyri kilegefanu. However he said that the biggest arson attacks the country has ever seen was following the resignation of Nasheed.
The President added that Nasheed instigated his partisans to burn the structures from the thirty year rule of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom to the ground. He said that it is not something that is easy to cope.
President said that this is the result of giving precedence to personal interest over the interest of the nation.
He said that during the government of MDP, the people saw the kidnapping of judges, arresting political leaders.
Meanwhile, President Yameen himself, the Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel, Jumhooree Party leader Gasim Ibrahim were arrested during the regime of former President Mohamed Nasheed.
