President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the providing affordable housing is a key social pledge of the government.
The President made this remark while speaking at the commencing ceremony of the 3000 Housing Units Project in Hulhumale held yesterday afternoon.
President Yameen said that the population of Hulhumale’ is now 30000 and with the completion of the 3000 housing units 18000 more people will get housing.
He said that the housing problems faced by the people will be solved by the housing units projects of the government.
Underlining that the housing pledge was one of the highest priorities of the Government, the President said that the issue of housing was the root of the social problems in the country.
Speaking in this regard, President Yameen said that the government’s policies were formulated in a way that it would ensure sustainable development. He also said that the government would implement these policies in a way that the people were least burdened.
He said that this project would ensure that the housing issues were resolved, and housing means secured for all those families. He further assured that the Government would not discriminate anyone regarding their political affiliations.
