It is a problem if much of the income is to be spent on taxes- Shahudee
Hanimadhoo constituency MP, Hussein Shahudee has said that it is a big problem if much of the income of the people is to be spent on various taxes.

Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Hussein Shahudee said that the wages and allowances of the Civil Servants and others is a very little expenditure considering the total expenditure of the state.

Shahudee said that only a few people of Maldives enjoy a happy and self-financing life. He said that many are living in many financial difficulties.

Shahudee said that if more taxes and different fees are taken from the people then this is a matter of grave concern.

He said that he supports the decrease of 12 percent of taxes by 6 percent in the goods and services Bill submitted to the Majlis on Monday.

“When we think of the importance of these amendments, we should know that the average salary of a civil servant is MVR 5000. With this small salary, the tickets from Hanimadhoo to hear costs about MVR 2800. And what about the other expenses? The remaining is very little. And what about the cost of living and food here in Male’,” he asked.

He said that efforts should be made to even save the fifty laaris with the state of the average citizen being in this state.
