Acting Minister of Law and Gender, Attorney General Mohamed Anil has said that the government has completed many pending works from the past six years and works left unattended since the inception of the new Constitution.
Speaking at the press room of the Velaanaage, Attorney General Anil said that the most high priority works include collecting every contradictory acts within the law and submitting it to the Peoples’ Majlis.
Anil said that this has been finished and sent to the Majlis now. He said that some of the bills have already been passed by the Majlis.
Anil said that other important works include the preparations to implement the recently passed penal code next year.
“We are working in it. We have planned three phases of actions,” he said.
He said that the government is working with a local and international consultant with the aid of the UNDP.
