The cabinet ministers have decided to take the authority of the maintenance of the streets of Male’ from the Male’ City Council to the government.
The cabinet made this decision under the guidelines to take the authority of the assets of the state, lands of the state to the government for social use of the government.
In yesterday’s cabinet meeting, the ministers noted that the public have been complaining repeatedly regarding the flooding of the streets and the issue of street pollution and similar matters.
The cabinet members expressed their concern regarding the threat of health problems that might arise due to these issues.
In addition to this, the ministers discussed the complaints raised by parents regarding the difficulties faced by them to take their children to school during the rainy season.
The cabinet stated that the responsibility of the maintenance of the streets should be taken by the government as the Male’ City Council have failed to resolve these issues.
