Ministry of Health has signed an agreement with the State Trading Organization (STO) to buy a record number of Ambulances for the health sector of Maldives.
A meeting was held to sign the agreement yesterday evening at the Ministry of Health. Interim Minister of Health, Minister of Defence Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim signed on behalf of the Ministry of Health while the Managing Director of STO signed the agreement on behalf of STO.
Minister Nazim said that it is a very happy day for Maldives from the efforts of the government to provide quality health services to the people.
Minister Nazim revealed that 54 ambulances will be brought under the agreement and this is a record number.
He said that four ambulances from among 54 ambulances would be used as paramedic ambulances and that two ambulances would be operated in Male’ while another two would be operated in Addu City and Laamu atoll.
The Minister emphasized that the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom gives a special attention to develop and rectify the health sector of Maldives.
“What we today are witnessing is the special attention the government gives to the health sector and the importance that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom gives to its development. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the President,” he said.
In addition to this the Minister revealed a 911 emergency service will be established soon.
