Miadhu Daily appeals govt not to ask the media to stop the actions of govt

Miadhu Daily has appealed the government not to ask the media to stop actions done by the government.

Editor of Miadhu Daily, Abdul Latheef made this appeal speaking at the meeting held at the Ministry of Health to create awareness in the media regarding illegal advertisement of food items by the media.

It was said in the meeting that the Milo colours award organized by the Education Ministry for the school students is a concern and it is right now being discussed with the ministry.

It was also noted that a football tournament for children was sponsored by Milo recently. It is illegal to advertise such goods by having the ads on the jerseys.

Miadhu Daily stated that these actions are done by the government and it is the government who can stop such activities. Abdul Latheef said that the media cannot do anything about it.

“If events are held then media will cover those events. It cannot be stopped. However, if such events with illegal things are banned then the media won’t cover them,” the editor stated.

Editor Abdul Latheef also questioned why the authorities don’t take the matters to the court if they are not cooperated with in stopping such activities.

Health Minister’s state minister Dr. Aishath Rameela, Deputy Minister Mohamed Rafeeg Hassan, Nazeera Najeeb from Health Protection Agency and Sajidha Mohamed from Food and Drug Authority participated in the meeting.
