Discussion held to reform Commonwealth to be more beneficial to needs of small states such as Maldives
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Dunya Maumoon and the Commonwealth Secretary General, Mr. Kamalesh Sharma hasd discussed ways in which the Commonwealth can be reformed to be more beneficial to the needs and challenges of small states such as the Maldives.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday afternoon.
The Minister also expressed interest in further strengthening technical cooperation with the Commonwealth.
At the meeting, Mr. Sharma assured the Minister that Commonwealth will continue to work with the Maldives, in strengthening cooperation and reforming the organization.
The Secretary General commented on the role of the Maldives as among the "movers and shakers"of international politics, especially on the environment and small states issues.
He further expressed his appreciation for the Maldives’ contribution towards further strengthening the organization.
