Present Auditor General is a very capable person- Thoriq

Mahibadhoo constituency MP Ahmed Thoriq has said that the current Auditory General is a very capable person for the post.

He made this remark speaking at the Seven Sitting of the Third Session of the People’s Majlis held yesterday, the Bill on Amendment to the Audit Act (Act No. 4/2007).

He said that the amendment to the Audit Act is very important and should be passed.

Mahibadhoo MP added that the amendment has so far been rejected and not passed because the Majlis members did not want to pass it.

“The present Auditor General is a very capable person. I hope that this amendment is passed,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Bill on Amendment to the Audit Act (Act No. 4/2007) was passed with one amendment, with 40 Members voting in favor and 25 voting against the Bill.

The Bill was reviewed by the Committee on Economic Affairs, and the Committee report was presented to the floor by Chair Hon. Mohamed Ameeth Ahmed Manik. 15 members spoke on the Committee Report during time allocated for debate.

The First Reading of the Bill was held on 17 June 2014, at the Third Sitting of the Second Session of the Majlis.
