Bill on Amendment to the Audit Act passed by Majlis


At the Seven Sitting of the Third Session of the People’s Majlis held today, the Bill on Amendment to the Audit Act (Act No. 4/2007) was passed with one amendment, with 40 Members voting in favor and 25 voting against the Bill.

The amendment, proposed by Hon. Ahmed Thariq, MP for Mahibadhoo and seconded by Hon. Ibrahim Didi, MP for Feydhoo, was passed with 36 votes in favor. 22 members voted against the amendment, which added a clause after Article 2 (d) of the Bill and re-ordering the rest of the clauses.

The Bill was reviewed by the Committee on Economic Affairs, and the Committee report was presented to the floor by Chair Hon. Mohamed Ameeth Ahmed Manik. 15 members spoke on the Committee Report during time allocated for debate.

The First Reading of the Bill was held on 17 June 2014, at the Third Sitting of the Second Session of the Majlis.

At today’s Sitting, the Minister of Environment and Energy, Thariq Ibrahim, answered questions posed by Hon. Hussein Mohamed, MP for Mathiveri regarding the sewerage projects progressing at Aa. Feridhoo and Aa. Mathiveri.
