Biggest investment to establish sewage and water system ongoing
Environmental Minister Thoriq Ibrahim has said that the biggest investment ever in Maldives to establish water and sewage system is now ongoing.

Minister Thoriq made this remark answering a question raised by the Thoddo constituency MP Ibrahim Hassan at yesterday’s sitting of the Peoples’ Majlis. He said that the value of all the ongoing projects are MVR 842 m illion. He said that this is the biggest investment in this area.

Minister Thoriq then gave the members the detailed information regarding the ongoing projects and the islands they are currently conducted at.

“Sewage projects are currently conducted in four islands. They are Hanimadhoo. Laam Gan, Thinadhoo and Accu City Hithadhoo. We are working to work on five islands under the IDB loan. They are Hinmafushi, Thulusdhoo, Nolhivaranfaru, Naifaru and Vemandu,” he said.

He also said that IFAD funded projects will also be conducted in some of the islands including Thulhadhoo, Velidhoo, Hulhudhuffaru, Kolamafushi, Gaddhoo,” he said.
