Commissioner of Police, Hussein Waheed has said that those who defame Police officers and make blatant accusations that it was the Police who cut down the areca palms in Majeedhee Magu will be made accountable.
He made this remark speaking at the press conference held at Iskandharu Koshi yesterday.
“We would like to remind that those who defame the police and make false accusations against the police will be made accountable. We request them to stop this foolishness. When the authorities finish the investigation on the issue of the areca palms then those who cut them down will be revealed,” he said.
The commissioner said that there is no connection between the police and the cutting down of the areca palms and on that night the police conducted two special operation in Male’.
He said that no illegal orders have been given to the police and the police themselves are investigating the case of cutting down the area palms. He said that the Home Minister also has requested the police integrity commission to investigate the claims made against the police.
