Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Gasim Ibrahim has said that instability and violence will not bring about any national development to the country.
Gasim Ibrahim made this remark speaking to the media following the handover of the forms to the Elections Commission of the candidates running in the election with Jumhooree Party ticket in the upcoming Peoples’ Majlis election.
Gasim said that the Adhaalath Party’s decision to run in the election for the constituencies where Jumhooree Party candidates are running was a decision taken in the spur of the moment without any thoughts. He said that Adhaalath Party gave precedence to their personal welfare over public and national welfare.
Gasim said that he does not believe that the people will accept this faulty decision of the Adhaalath Party.
Adhaalath Party made this decision after Jumhooree Party refused to change the four seats allocated for Adhaalath to give seats. Gasim said that Adhaalath Party was given the opportunity to hold discussions when Adhaalath rejected the offer. He said that it is sad that Adhaalath Party took this decision.
Former President Mohamed Nasheed criticized the decision of PPM to grant many seats for the Jumhooree Party to compete in the upcoming election via tickets of the Jumhooree Party.
