Commissioner of Police Hussein Waheed said that it is very unfortunate to defame Maldives Police Service and some individual police officers on the claims that they chopped down the areca palms planted in Male’.
Commissioner of police made this remark in reply to a question raised by Miadhu Daily in view of the claims of former President Mohamed Nasheed that the police are involved in the chopping down of the areca palms in the main streets of Male’.
He said that the Police are those who work 24 hours to ensure the security and stability of the people.
He added that such accusations are made to cause friction between the people and the police officers.
