Adam Azim made this remark speaking at the ceremony held by the State trading Organization (STO) to launch the Fish Week.
He said that STO is one of the main partners in developing the economic state of Maldives. He said that the fishing industry generates most of the jobs for the Maldives.
He said that therefore STO will down whatever that will develop the fishing industry.
In addition to this, Adam Azim said that the STO launched the fish week to encourage the companies working in the fishing industry and to expand the market for them.
“It is not the main aim of the STO to only sell its products. STO also wants to open up ways for the producers,” he said.
Furthermore, Adam Azim noted that STO has decreased the price of goods following the inception of the current government.
“The fuel price was reduced at the request of the President himself to encourage the fishermen and to increase the cost of the fish,” he said.
