President of the Adaalath Party, Sheikh Imran Abdulla has said that the Adaalath Party will do whatever they can against making music and dancing compulsory in the educational methodology of Maldives from next year.
Imran made this remark in a status shared on his official facebook page. He said that the party will continuously work against the decision of the authorities to make music and dancing compulsory in schools.
Music and dancing has been made compulsory as part of creative arts. Islamic Ministry and some organizations have raised concern regarding the issue.
Minister of Islamic Affiars, Sheikh Mohamed Shaheem have sent letters requesting the authorities to not make music and dancing compulsory for students.
Jamiyyath Salaf also has raised worries regarding this decision by the education ministry to make music and dancing compulsory in schools
Meanwhile, Minister of Education, Aishath Shiham said that nothing that opposes the Islamic teachings have been introduced to the national curriculum.
