Kinbidhoo constituency MP Abdulla Riyaz has sent a letter to Defence Minister Nazim requesting to appoint a gynecologist to Th. Atoll Hospital as it has been 4 four months with no gynecologist in the hospital.
Riyaz noted that citizens of the island had stated that while this was a usual occurrence where they have brief periods lacking a gynecologist, it has been four months this time around.
In his letter, MP Riyaz highlighted the fact that there are currently 140 pregnant women in Thaa Atoll who are forced to travel to close by atolls, Laamu and Dhaal as well as Male’ for medical assistance. He therefore urged the need of a gynecologist in Thaa Atoll Hospital.
He said that during his trip visiting five islands of the Kimbidhoo district on the 4th till the 8th of this month had he found out that the Thaa Atoll Hospital did not have a gynecologist.
