Second escape convict from Maafushi prison, Ibrahim Shahum Adam has been arrested and taken to custody by Maldives Police Service.
According to reports from Police, Shahum was apprehended during an operation carried out by the SWAT team of the Police, Intelligence, Traffic Police and Central Operation Command, just a few minutes ago near Maaveyo magu.
Police revealed that the operation was conducted since evening of yesterday and the details will be revealed later,
Police noted that guns were not used. They stated that the public have provided them with ample help so thanked the public for their support in apprehending the two escaped convicts.
Shahum's accomplice in the escape, Fariyash Ahmed (26) of GA. Maamendhoo, Javaahiru Vaadhee was arrested day before yesterday at 1:45 p.m. while he was at a café called ‘Tatians café’ near Shaheed Ali Mosque.
