Only MVR 1million passed for Omadhoo Harbour project while it needs MVR 37 million
Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizz has said that only MVR 1 million was allocated from the budget for the Thaa Omadhoo Harbour project although the project needs MVR 37 million.

Minister Muizz made this remark in reply to a question raised by Kinbidhoo member Abdulla Riyaz regarding the project in the Peoples’ Majlis yesterday.

Dr. Muizz said that the ministry is working to schedule the project to the end of the year and the final concept of the project has been sent for approval based on the information received from the Omadhoo council.

“We have made our tender documents based on that. It has now been submitted at the Tender Board of the Finance Ministry. So the Tender Board will now complete the tender process and award the project to a bidder. So the Housing Ministry has now done their part. The work will be commenced as soon as the tender board finish the tendering process. Therefore it is difficult to tell an exact date,” he said.

In reply to the Kinbidhoo member, Minister Muizz further said that the ministry will commence every project included in the state budget and the projects will be prioritized and sent for tender.
