At the Third Sitting of the Third Session of the People’s Majlis held today, the Bill to Repeal Act on the Detention and Imprisonment of Persons for More Than Seven Days Act (Act No 5/78) was passed with 54 unanimous votes.
The Bill was reviewed by the Committee on National Security, and the report was presented to the Majlis floor today by Committee Chair Hon. Ibrahim Riza, MP for Guraidhoo.

The First Reading of the Bill was held on 9 June 2014, at the Second Sitting of the Second Session of the Majlis. It was tabled on behalf of the Government by Hon. Ibrahim Shujau, MP for Baarah.
