President of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has said that lessons should be drawn from the two recent bi-elections held.
Former President Gayoom made this remark in a tweet he made in view of the defeat faced by the PPM member of the Kolhufushi council, Mohamed Naseer in the bi-election.
Gayoom said that PPM will take lessons from these two elections and act accordingly.
While Gayoom calls to draw lessons from the recent two bi-elections, the opposition MDP candidates won both of these bi-elections.
Hussein Shamil won the Kolhufushi council’s bi-election by competing against PPM member Mohamed Naseer.
Shamil got 354 votes while PPM candidate won 334 votes.
With the success of the MDP candidate, former President Mohamed Nasheed sent his congratulations to the candidate.
