Saudi Prince Salman bin Abdul Azeez has donated US $ 1.2 million to the ministry of Islamic Affairs for building 10 mosques in Maldives.
Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said that the prince will grant US $ 4 million for the whole project. And the remaining will be transferred as the project is launched.
The Minister said that the islands where the mosques will be established will be announced later.
Minister Dr. Shaheem said that Kuwait recently donated US $ 4 million to establish the 10 storey Waqf building. Another foreign organization also donated US $ 2 lakh for the project.
Minister of Islamic Affairs have been doing much efforts to foster Islamic awareness in the Maldives through different means.
The Ministry has been getting foreign funds for these projects within a short period of time.
