Commissioner of Police, Hussein Waheed has said that only those who fall within the conditions mentioned in the constitution will be detained for investigation.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Commissioner Hussein Waheed said that the current constitution is a constitution which is not very welcoming with detaining suspects for investigation. Commissioner said that only people suspect of particular crimes are detained for investigation.
The Commissioner said that the Police are now much more advanced than before and are not holding on to previous guidelines in detaining suspects.
He said that suspects are only detained with able evidences against him or her. He said that suspects are detained if there is a fear that the suspect might try to hide evidence or if the suspect is considered a danger to the society.
Meanwhile, some raise concern that the Police release dangerous criminals within a moment of arrest.
