President of the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that MDP is not hastening to seek authority of Maldives.
Nasheed made this remark speaking at the Saturday night’s rally of MDP. He said that MDP does not seek authority by illegal means and the ideology of MDP is to stay as a responsible opposition during the five years of the current government.
Nasheed reiterated that MDP will stay as a responsible and sincere opposition during the five years. “We are ready to stay as such and we will remain sincere. We are not rushing and hastening to get authority,” he said.
In addition to that, Nasheed condemned the arson on Hithadhoo office of MDP. He accused the leaders of PPM to be behind these crimes.
Nasheed said that if the PPM, the government and former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom expressed worry regarding the matter then there will be a third person who is perpetrating such acts.
“PPM is expressing worry when MDP’s Addu Office is burnt down. They are worried when some people obstruct our rally. We are seeing that these acts are perpetrated by PPM. Or that some of the leading members of the government are involved. However they are saying that they are worried and concerned. We have to go for an alternative thinking to find an answer to this riddle,” he said.
