The Minister at the President’s Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef has departed Male’, to attend the Seventh Bali Democracy Forum scheduled to be held in Bali, Indonesia from the 10-11 October 2014.
The theme of this years forum is evolving regional democratic architecture: the challenges of political development, public participation and socio economic progress in the 21st century. During the two day forum, a general debate on the main theme and two interactive sessions on the sub theme of the forum will be convened.
The Minister will be delivering Maldives statement at the General Debate and will be a panelist at the interactive session on Promoting active, effective and meaningful public participation in the democratic process.
The Bali Democracy forum initiated by Indonesia in 2008 is an annual, forum, aimed at promoting regional and international cooperation in the field of democracy and political development amongst countries in Asia pacific region.
The forum also provides a valuable platform for countries in promoting practical political cooperation and exchange of views and experiences aimed at promoting democratic principles.
The Minister is scheduled to conclude his visit on 12 October 2014. The Minister will be accompanied by Ms. Aishath Liusha Zahir, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
